GLOBE TROTTER DIARY

     Kuba 1959

On January 1, 1959 Fidel Castro and his fellows stepped in Cuba. An American photographer was there. Almost sixty years later, with a lot of waters  having  been flowing under the bridge, Burt Glinn gives a glimpse of what had been the so called revolutionary 20  century epic. At this time every Latin American  dissident group had been dreaming of being the 2nd Castro of the Americas. But revolutions also change their path way .

DUBLIN AT DAYBREAK

I remembered this cloudy morning when at daybreak the plane touched down Dublin airport. Through the window, I could watch the city and some small islands scattered like burning pieces everywhere. Ireland seemed fascinating at a glance.
At the airport, the wooden restaurant seems typical. Irish pub for Irish people.
Berlin, erratic Spring.

Spring is expected everywhere but there  was  rather an endless and continuing rain . Everything seemed  even wet with sole coldness. The hope of a sunny day quickly vanished. Spring doesn’t want to be there despite  birds singing. Berlin sky was even cloudy.
Berlin is kalt . By the old church  the ruins of which recall the war years stand close by the famous Kufurstendam, this Parisian Champs Elysee replica, the wind recalls us that winter is not over. But, nearby, sellers start  displaying handcraft items  , T shirts, and jewelry. At the nearby restaurant Vapiano, there is no crowd, but youths spend time enjoying  beer and eating Italian pizza. Outside, tables and seats are empty.

Once compared to Naples’ Haitian seas have nevertheless something special .
What could it be ?
Its endless huge blue, its magic sunset, its sandy beaches or its scuba diving opportunities?
There is more than that.

Haitian seas have a mix of legends and surprise. The so-called American mediterrannea happens to be on the conquistadores’ route, henceforth so many boats and spanish gallons still sunk in its waters . When divers venture out deep into these  seas, they could be lucky enough to run into wrecks and parts of unfortunate boats sleeping there for centuries. That‘s  what  had  happened to Captain Morgan off the tiny and beautiful Haitian island Ile a Vaches. Dont hesitate: go there and ask fort the Morgan’s route! His boats are still there. Off la Gonave, not too far from Montrouis and St Marc; Cote des Arcadins and Amani have something that is worth seeing. The Zombie Hole is a 450 feet hole a few meters off this beach with an intense marine life. There, colorful corrals and reefs are still amazing. St Marc Zombie Hole is a wonder for scuba diving fans!

In fact, this come back tourist era is a trigger for exploring Haiti and its sea, and it happens that life marine  exploration and scuba diving momentum is almost at ist beginning in Haiti.

  INDONESIAN CHURCHES

"By the Way,"  I am also familiar with the Japanese and Indonesian cultures. You should try to be posed to Japan. It is a wonderful experience. Indonesia, these days like the Philippines is somewhat dangerous due to the maniacal ISIS which lures the youth by teaching them to hate the Western cultures .

So spoke a friend of mine, familiar with travelling experience

But, a former diplomat observed  happily   that  Christian churhes and Muslim mosque  stand close by not too far  from an Indian temple. . The diplomat has concluded that the most populated  Muslim country is an example of  faith tolerance!
This agreement peace is however at  risk to be over.

Pythons also need a break.
This young and smart python’s owner wants his pet to get relaxed. As a Manhattan boy, he steps out and makes his python  breathe a little bit. Good guy, think some afraid and nosy peopleꜝ
