SOPHIA LOREN THE GODDESS OF THE SIXTIES
Soon,
in September, 2015 Sophia Loren will be still appear young. Ordinary
people would think she has crossed the line; but, it is an imaginary one,
because stars and the sky never age. The Sophia case had started in the 50s, and it is an
extraordinary journey that even today feeds the imagination of so many.
This
endless life had begun from the scratch. Sophia’s life is a kind of
Cinderella’s. What makes this woman unique and amazing is the way she has
embodied so many lives. Sophia is the beloved daughter of a Roman
emperor, the Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra and also a ”Parisian Madame sans
gene." At the same time, she never stopped being a mother and a
daughter who honors her mother, because, Sophia thinks, her success came from
the care and the nurturing of her mother she is still mourning.
A
wife, a mother, Sophia Lazarus, (her good looks could revive the biblical
Lazarus, Italians say) was born out of wedlock and grew up in poverty. To what
she owes her success, is still a matter of controversy. Anyway, she
became a goddess of the screen who had been making so many cry and fall
in love. But, as a half-god creature, Sophia remains once far and close, as if
she could only respond to so many expectations through human imagination and
fantasy. As a star, Sophia falls into the immortal category; she has too many
lives to share with a mere mortal public.
